The Cabinet

The Cauldron

What goes into the shaker bottle most mornings, and why each part earned its place over two years of paying attention.

Some of the links below are affiliate links. They earn us a small commission and cost you nothing extra. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. We’re also part of the Commission Factory network. None of that changes what goes on the shelf. If we wouldn’t use it ourselves, it’s not going in The Cabinet, full stop. One pick has no link at all, because it isn’t sold anywhere we currently earn from. It’s here anyway.

Amazon prices shift about constantly and any number quoted here would go stale within the week, so each linked pick is marked budget, mid-range or splurge instead. One pick below carries no band and no Amazon button, since it isn’t sold there.

Nutra Organics Marine Collagen Beauty powder, 225g unflavoured

1. Marine Collagen Beauty, Unflavoured

Nutra Organics · Amazon AU Mid-range

The one that started the morning stack. Hydrolysed peptides small enough to cross the gut wall, plus the amino acids fibroblasts need to build new collagen. Vitamin C does the assembly work, which is why it’s in the shaker with everything else.

Roogenic Inflammation daily superfood powder, 180g tub

2. Inflammation Daily Superfood Powder

Roogenic · Not sold on Amazon AU

The one I notice most when I forget it. Curcumin and boswellia doing the anti-inflammatory work, magnesium and Davidson plum alongside them, acacia fibre for the gut and Fortigel collagen in the same scoop. It’s tropical-flavoured, which is a large part of why the mid-morning one actually gets taken.

Vitaceuticals Clean Creatine micronised creatine monohydrate powder

3. Clean Creatine Powder, Unflavoured

Vitaceuticals · Amazon AU Mid-range

Replenishes ATP faster during physical exertion, which matters when perimenopause is quietly eroding muscle mass whether you’re training or not. The cognitive improvement was unexpected and genuinely useful on bad brain fog days.

Nordic Naturals Ultimate Omega 2X fish oil softgels, lemon

4. Ultimate Omega 2X, Lemon

Nordic Naturals · Amazon AU Splurge

Works a different anti-inflammatory pathway to the curcumin, which is why both earn a place on the shelf. Cardiovascular protection is the main reason it’s here: oestrogen’s protective effect on cholesterol recedes through perimenopause, and fish oil picks up some of that slack. Triglyceride form, which absorbs better than the ethyl ester in cheaper fish oils, and it tastes of lemon instead of repeating on you all morning.

Caltrate Bone and Muscle calcium with vitamin D3 tablets

5. Bone and Muscle, Calcium with Vitamin D3

Caltrate · Amazon AU Budget

Bedtime, on purpose. Calcium for bone density, D3 so the calcium absorbs instead of passing straight through, and a small enough magnesium dose to avoid the vivid-dream problem the bigger doses give me.

Spatone liquid iron supplement, 28 sachets

6. Liquid Iron Supplement, 28 Sachets

Spatone · Amazon AU Budget

The last addition and the gentlest. Naturally occurring iron from a Welsh spring, delivered as a liquid at a fraction of the dose a standard tablet uses. It goes down without the constipation and nausea that put me off tablets years ago.
